Your Tour at a Glance:

DAY 1: After dinner arrival into Dar es Salaam and overnight at a downtown hotel.

DAY 2: After breakfast, a short “Cessna Hop” to Mikumi National Park. Here legions of game are found amidst the flood plains and the deciduous forest that make up much of the habitat. Foxes Safari Camp is your destination.

DAY 3: Game drives that will hopefully not wear out your shutter.

DAY 4: Fly from Mikumi to Mufindi for three nights at the Fox’s Highland Lodge. In a setting near tea plantations and at an altitude of nearly 6000 feet, you will be awed by the scenery and invigorated by the climate. Hiking, biking, horse riding, fishing, golf, and even croquet are all no-cost options. So is relaxing.

DAY 5: While enjoying the Highland Lodge as our base, we will visit a local village, school, local industries and witch doctor and have the opportunity to meet some of the villagers.

DAY 6: You continue to enjoy the Highland Lodge and wish you could stay longer. An optional visit to a tea factory is available.

DAY 7: Fly from Mufindi to Ruaha National Park for a three night stay at Ruaha River Lodge. Tanzania’s second largest National Park is still relatively unknown, making it ideal for those seeking the trails less traveled and the wildlife less-visited. The lodge setting on the riverbank, highway for animals, is unforgettable, as is the hospitality you will enjoy.

DAY 8: Game drives throughout this park that is the size of Belgium. Though predators galore and the rare kudu are found here, more than 480 bird species have been seen in the park. The lodge blends so artfully with the environment that often great wildlife dramas can be witnessed from the comfort and protection of your banda (cabin).

Day 9: Another and final day observing wildlife in this spectacular park.

Day 10: A flight to Africa’s largest Game Reserve, the Selous. Accommodation at a luxury camp overlooking the Rufiji River full of crocs and hippos. Game drive.

DAY 11: An aqua safari enables us to view wildlife from the water. A Game drive and a walking safari in the park is also offered.

DAY 12: We fly to Zanzibar, the island which, in the past hosted Dr. Livingstone prior to his explorations on the mainland. Earlier still, Zanzibar gained a sinister reputation as a slaving centre. Now it is a bountiful spice island and a mecca for tourists. We will stay at the Dhow Palace Hotel and have time to relax or shop. A walking tour of Stonetown is optional.

DAY 13: We transfer to a beach resort on the beautiful Indian Ocean. A time for total R&R but for those more energetic, snorkeling, fishing and diving are possible options. Breakfast and dinner included on days 13 and 14.

DAY 14: Another day to enjoy this beautiful setting. For people who have already visited Zanzibar with us, other options can be substituted. Prices will vary.

DAY 15: An opportunity to sleep in and still enjoy a morning swim before we drive back to Stonetown and fly to Dar es Salaam. We’ll have an opportunity to shower and change at the Peacock hotel before sharing a “Last supper” together and then heading out to the airport for most to catch an evening flight to Europe.
